Established in 1975, Darren Reserve Kindergarten  has been the important first step in the formal Education of  children for nearly 50 years.   We are proud to now be welcoming the children and sometimes the grandchildren of our previous students – so wonderful!

In 2013, a grant from the City of Greater Dandenong enabled the construction of a second room and spacious Foyer area and also enlargement of the already extensive Outdoor space.

In 2014 with this expanded building ,facility,  the Kindergarten implemented Universal access – 15 hours of Kindergarten for all four year old children and we were able to increase the hours  for our Three Year old Group.

Our 2 well equipped rooms are full of light, open and inviting , warm and welcoming. Within each room are opportunities for art, construction, sensory, imaginative play  literacy maths and science, music and eating together.

A calm  soothing place is provided for children whenever they are feeling overwhelmed or may need some time to be by themselves, to be quiet and to just BE.

Our spacious foyer entrance is a beautiful space where Families can feel they belong – the couch and  a small area with books invites Families to sit and share a book together. Our  expansive and beautiful playground includes a recently upgraded sandpit and  bike track, a beautiful Mud Kitchen donated to the Kinder by our current President, an Obstacle course with a variety of climbing and balancing equipment as well as swings, trampoline and garden of Indigenous plants and the beginnings of a Food forest of fruit trees – there are spaces for running, for hiding and for exploring. A dinosaur grotto and Fairy garden invite children to play, imagine and maybe even post a letter to a fairy friend.  We are able to offer a myriad of wonderful opportunities for our Children in all areas of their learning and development.  

We are a friendly, caring and  well respected not-for-profit kindergarten run by a volunteer parent committee of Management  who work hard to manage and  maintain the excellence of the Kindergarten, support its Staff and advocate for all Families and children. 

Our strong focus on Partnerships with Families and have built strong ties with our local Community.

At Darren Reserve Kindergarten, Children are respected as capable and competent individuals ready to explore and make discoveries about their world.

We believe that children learn through purposeful play –  that their ideas,  thoughts and wonderings are to be nurtured   We strive to  foster and develop an innate love and joy of learning through responsive Teaching and  enriching Learning experiences in a beautiful  and stimulating environment.
